How do you prepare to shoot a wedding?
I am stickler about location scouting. If the wedding is local, I always do extensive location scouting beforehand to understand:
A. exactly what lighting conditions I will be dealing with so I can be prepared
B. and to get a feel of where I want to take the bride/groom portraits. Which are super important to me.
Additionally, I bring a fabulous model with me to stand in for a bride and/or groom, so I can see exactly how the light will fall on my subjects. Chris - otherwise known as my honey-bunny - doesn’t exactly love to have his picture taken. Despite that minor setback, I’ve amassed a vast collection of photos of him standing in romantic locations.
